ISO 9001 Certification is an important differentiator within the market. Companies, such as Synergetics, that can achieve ISO 9001 2008 certification hold a distinguished position and have increased credibility within the market. The ISO 9001:2008 quality certification is based on eight fundamental quality management principles. These include:
• Customer focus
• Leadership
• Involvement of people
• Process approach
• System approach to management
• Continual improvement
• Factual approach to decision making
• Mutually beneficial supplier relationships
Synergetics also has the first ISO 8000-110 certified product: Synergetics’ Integrated Mobile Database (IMD) suite. Synergetics’ IMD solution solves problems associated with managing and distributing data in technology constrained environments such as limited, intermittent, and low bandwidth Internet access. This is a frequent technology constraint for national and global organizations. Storing and accessing logistics data, parts catalogs, or inventory data from portable media and devices is a challenge for organizations with end-users that are constrained to small footprint media solutions.
Finally Synergetics is an active and voting member in multiple international working groups that are establishing global quality standards. These include:
• ISO 8000 Master Data Quality: a technical specification that describes the fundamentals of data quality, defines related terms, and specifies requirements on both data and organizations to enable data quality.
• 22745 Open Technical Dictionaries (eOTD): the foundation for design collaboration and industry standards. eOTD is a dictionary of cataloging concepts used to create unambiguous language, independent encoded descriptions of individuals, organizations, locations and goods and services.
• 29002 Exchange of Service and Product Characteristic Data: a developing standard to achieve interoperability between ISO 22745, Open technical dictionaries and their application to master data, and ISO 13584 by developing a series of common data models and XML schemas, which can be specialized in the respective standards.
• NATO AC135: provides participant Nations with a uniform NATO Codification System to be used as the global reference standard for material identification and to support NATO and multinational interoperability and harmonization of logistic systems.

Synergetics Portable Media Product certified by ECCMA for ISO 8000
FORT COLLINS, Colorado, October 29, 2007 – Synergetics Incorporated, a Fort Collins, Colorado based IT services company announces its Integrated Mobile Database (IMD) is the first and only Electronic Commerce Code Management Association (ECCMA) and International Standards Organization (ISO) certified portable media product. Synergetics’ IMD technology suite has the ability to extract, compress, and index data to produce ECCMA certified, ISO 8000 compliant portable media versions of the original data.
The mission of the ECCMA is to develop, maintain and promote the ECCMA Open Technical Dictionary (eOTD) as an international open standard descriptive language for cataloging individuals, organizations, locations, goods and services. The global, open standard dictionaries are used to unambiguously label information. These dictionaries enable information to be passed from one computer system to another without losing meaning. The eOTD unambiguous labeling standards are essential for data exchange between DoD/NATO agencies and commercial vendors.
Synergetics supports ECCMA and its mission to develop and maintain open standard dictionaries. The ECCMA – ISO 8000 Master Data Quality certification ensures the ability to exchange data between DoD, NATO and commercial vendors.
Synergetics originally developed the IMD solution in response to the needs of DoD for distributing mission critical data on portable media and devices. Synergetics’ IMD solution is now being offered to other government agencies and commercial vendors facing similar challenges in distributing mission critical data via portable media and devices.
Synergetics’ IMD suite provides data compression, data storage, data production and retrieval tools to extract data from SQL databases, compress, index and produce ECCMA – ISO certified portable media versions of the original data. IMD’s logistic data compression and query performance is unequalled in the marketplace.
According to Rajiv Mehta, president and CEO of Synergetics Incorporated, “Federal government agencies and commercial vendors that have worked as data producers or data consumers are familiar with the problems inherent in managing mission critical data. These organizations also have lines-of-business that require quality data management and distribution for catalog data, inventory data, and other logistics data in technology constrained environments. Synergetics now offers an ECCMA – ISO certified solution to these needs.”
Synergetics’ IMD solution solves problems with managing and distributing data in technology constrained environments such as limited, intermittent, and low bandwidth Internet access. This is a frequent technology constraint for national and global organizations. Storing and accessing logistics data, parts catalogs, or inventory data from portable media and devices is a challenge for organizations with end-users that are constrained to small footprint media solutions. Synergetics' IMD also recognizes enterprise security constraints and requires no hard drive or registry footprint during use.

Synergetics Assists with Earthquake Studies
FORT COLLINS, CO. - November 15, 2006 - Synergetics has been contracted by the Department of Interior, U.S. Geological Survey, to perform scientific research for The Advanced National Seismic System (ANSS), which is a major national initiative that serves the needs of the earthquake monitoring, engineering, and research communities as well as national, state, and local governments, emergency response organizations, and the general public. When fully operational, the ANSS will be an advanced monitoring system (modern digital seismographs and accelerographs, communications networks, data collection and processing centers, archival and alert systems, and well-trained personnel) distributed across the United States. The ANSS is a National resource that operates with high performance standards, gathers critical technical data, and effectively provides timely and reliable earthquake products, information, and services to meet the Nation's needs. The ANSS will automatically broadcast timely and authoritative alerts describing the occurrence of earthquakes, earthquake source properties, the distribution of ground shaking, and, where feasible, broadcast early warnings and alerts for the onset of strong ground shaking. Most importantly, the ANSS will provide earthquake data, derived products, and information to the public, emergency responders, officials, engineers, educators, researchers, and other ANSS partners rapidly and in forms that are useful for their needs.
Synergetics personnel are assigned to help develop The PAGER (Prompt Assessment of Global Earthquakes for Response) system which is an automatic system to estimate human impact following significant Earthquakes. The work is being performed at the U.S. Geological Surveys National Earthquake Information Center (NEIC) which reports over 30,000 earthquakes a year. Tragically, on average, 25 of these cause significant damage, injuries, or fatalities. The USGS often detects these damaging quakes well before eyewitness reports are available and must rapidly decide if Federal and international agencies should be alerted of a potentially damaging event. Currently, the USGS primarily relies on the experience and intuition of the on duty seismologists to estimate the impact of an event. To improve the accuracy of this assessment and the content of the USGS earthquake alerts, the USGS is developing the PAGER system to estimate human impact immediately following global earthquakes.
The PAGER system will provide important information to help emergency relief organizations, government agencies, and the media plan their response to earthquake disasters. PAGER will distribute alarms via pager, mobile phone, and e-mail that will include a concise estimate of impact: red for severe, yellow for moderate, and green for little or no impact. The alarms will also report the earthquake location, magnitude, depth, an estimate of the number of people exposed to varying levels of shaking, a description of the regions fragility, and a measure of confidence in the systems impact assessment. Associated maps of shaking level, population density, and susceptibility to landslides will be posted on the Internet. This information will be available within minutes of the determination of the earthquake location and magnitude. Earthquake solutions are generally available within the hour for significant events and improvements to the realtime earthquake detection system will decrease the response time to as little as fifteen minutes.
